SEPTEMBER 17, 2014
Summer is gone. Congress is back. Congress comes back to work with only a few really essential tasks to complete. Chief among them is approval of government funding for the next fiscal year, beginning October 1. Once legislative work is wrapped up, lawmakers will head back to the campaign trail and spend several weeks in their home districts and states.
September is Emergency Preparedness Month. During every hurricane, tornado, flood and wild fire, local public radio stations play an essential role in bringing information about response efforts, local relief supplies, evacuation orders and emergency routes and much more to help affected communities understand and respond. Help paint the picture to your advocates and members of Congress about the role your station plays during times of emergencies.
