On Saturday, September 17, The Friends of THIRTEEN hosted a Smilebooth station at American Graduate Day, with special guest Clifford the Big Red Dog. For the past four years, the Friends have facilitated the use of photography and social media to amplify the broadcasts' message. The Friends helped identify American Graduate Champions on the street by engaging them through fun and festive photography and social media activities in support of American Graduate Day.
Clifford added a cheerful touch to the Smilebooth station and encouraged many young passersby to stop and take a photo with him while their parents learned about American Graduate Initiative. Check out the library of gifs here.
The Friends' efforts were supported by Dorothy Pacella, Executive Director of the Friends (and chairperson of National Friends of Public Broadcasting), Kala DeStefano, Senior Coordinator Community Engagement; and volunteers Christina Carrara, Senior at Wagner College and Friends Intern, and Stevie Borrello, graduate of Baruch College and advocate at the 2016 APTS Public Media Summit.
