GRASSROOTS ADVOCACY AWARD The Grassroots Advocacy Award is given to a public media Volunteer or Volunteer Coordinator that has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills in organizing, maintaining or enhancing a grassroots government advocacy program at his/her station that resulted in furthering public media's legislative goals and marshaling grassroots support for their local station. |
ROSE LONG of Louisiana Public Broadcasting in Baton Rouge was chosen as the winner of this year's National Friends of Public Broadcasting "Grassroots Advocacy Award." Staff person, Terri Crockett nominated Rose for this award.
Terri wrote: "Rose has been a dedicated volunteer for over five years, serving on the Executive Committee, Legends Committee and also Chairman of the Legends Gala. As the wife of State Senator Gerald Rose, Rose has taken the role of grassroots advocate to heart -- never missing the opportunity to promote Louisiana Public Broadcasting, its value and its services. be seen walking through the capitol chambers encouraging Senators and Representatives to support Louisiana Public Broadcasting.
"As Chairman of the Legends Gala for the past four years, Rose single-handedly increased revenue by 50% raising a record-breaking $170,000 this year along. Her leadership has brought awareness to companies statewide and beyond about LPS's valuable resources."
