JOAN KRANOVICH
Nominated by Bea Brasel, WQPT
Special Events & Volunteer Coordinator
I am pleased to nominate Joan Kranovich for the Volunteer Management award. As a volunteer, Joan has given countless hours to WQPT. In her full-time position, she works for the Quad City Convention and Visitor Bureau and is the mother of a two-year old. She has a very demanding life, yet always finds time to volunteer to support WQPT and PBS.
Joan has been a volunteer with WQPT for eight years starting out as a student volunteer in our WQPT-PBS Ambassador Program. From day one, Joan demonstrated leadership and management skills, She had the ability to be a leader training the other Ambassadors to go into the community and represent WQPT. Joan has also volunteered for nearly every friend-raiser and fund-raiser we have presented. Each year, Joan progresses as a volunteer and takes on new and more challenging roles. She has served on a variety of committees, been a volunteer spokesperson at board meetings and open forums and she was named "WQPT Volunteer of the Year" in 2011. For three year, she has managed over 100 volunteers at WQPT's fundraiser "Brew Ha Ha."
This year, Joan took on a new role as Volunteer Chair for WQPT's special event, Imagination Station requiring the acquisition and training of over 200 volunteers. Joan created a website where volunteers could register. She was in constant communication with them so that volunteers knew what to expect and prior to the event, she held open training sessions based on the volunteer tasks. On the day of the event, she and her committee checked in every person and made sure they were trained and knew where they were stationed. This volunteer process went so smoothly, we will be using the same process for all future events. Under Joan's leadership our volunteer management reached a new level of efficiency.
At WQPT we're not always up-to-date on the latest technology, so it was refreshing when you have a young volunteer who comes in and helps you with the latest apps and social media. We are constantly learning from our volunteers rather than the other way around.
I highly recommend Joan for this award because along with her busy schedule of volunteering for other organizations, she saves the most time for WQPT.
Due to technical difficulties, there is no video of Joan's Award presentation. There is a page showing the Power Point slide to honor JOAN KRANOVICH.
