2007 DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
Presented to Robert Prentki
MPTV
Award Presentation Narrative:
The NFPB Distinguished Service Award recognizes a volunteer who, through community service, has made a significant and outstanding contribution to his or her local station.
The 2007 honoree has been a volunteer for the MPTV Friends for 18 years, volunteering as a phone operator, Go-Getter, On-Air Auditor, Vice-Chair of Technology, and as Auction Co-Chair in 2006 --- an auction that has consistently raised over $1,000,000 for the past seventeen years.
This volunteer leads by example and remains fully dedicated to the mission of Public Broadcasting. His dedication and time commitment while serving as the lead developer for taking the auction to the next level in technology was and is critical to future successes of MPTV Friends. He has made the telephone bank paperless, automating systems, taking the behind the scenes processes into the technology age, enhancing workflows, and increasing productivity more than 10 fold in copywriting, bidder confirmation and checkpoint Charlie. The software developed by him and the technology team has made a difference --- the Milwaukee Auction grossed $1,117,000 in 2007.
Without question, our honoree has proven to be an exemplary volunteer leader who has strengthened this station’s presence and importance in its community. So, tonight, we are pleased to honor – from MPTV Friends and WMVS/WMVT – Robert Prentki.
