2005 VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT AWARD
Presented to Tricia Dunn
Kentucky Educational TelevisionNomination Narrative:
Presentation Narrative:
Tricia Dunn, a petite, five-foot lady had big shoes to fill when she accepted the position of volunteer/outreach coordinator for KET in 2000. Her predecessor had been with KET for almost 15 years and was deeply loved by the volunteers. But “fill” those shoes she did!
Managing a statewide network of volunteers was easy for someone packing the right tools. Tricia brought with her – energy, enthusiasm, and good ideas! Her quick smile and engaging laugh always puts people at ease. In addition, the volunteers appreciate her ability to recognize their interests and talents. Tricia always finds the time to make sure they are enjoying their volunteer experience and not just doing busy work.
KET has risen to new levels because of Tricia’s ability to manage volunteers, coordinate volunteers, assist staff, and gracefully balance a tremendous workload.
Tricia has a special way of making me, as a board member, feel like a valued and respected volunteer. I don’t dare say, “No” because I’m the only one who can do the job. At least, that’s how she makes me feel. Somewhere along the way, the “Them’s” and “Us’s” disappeared and ‘We” appeared. “We” became a team – working together for public television – our shared vision, our shared passion!
The lady rolls up her sleeves and shares in the responsibility no matter what the task. No task is too big for Tricia!
