Unwavering support, outstanding commitment, generous enthusiasm, cheerleader and tireless are a few of the words used to describe what Joe Arcara brings to the activities of the Channel 10/36 Friends in Milwaukee. Mr. Arcara has been a member of the Channel 10/36 Friends Board of Directors for six years and has been extremely instrumental in raising funds for public television in his community.
In 1986, Mr. Arcara co-chaired the Channel 10 Great TV Auction which raised the all time high of $842,980; he has remained active in the annual auction by working every one of the nine days and nights keeping staff and volunteers energized as well as appearing on camera to make each "steal of the night" a fantastic success. He has also been an invaluable member of the Channel 10/36 Friends Board of Directors for six years, most recently co-chairing the Community Relations Committee which oversees all of the Friends special fund raising events such as the annual Wine Tasting, Sesame Street event, Wisconsin Futurity Horse Show, Big Band Dance for two years and appearances of several PBS personalities. Mr. Arcarda not only plans and organizes events, but he also attends and inspires volunteers and staff with his enthusiastic support.
Mr. Arcada also encourages the employees of the Marshall Field's store he manages to be community volunteers and was instrumental in securing from Field's full local underwriting for the children's series, Shining Time, on Milwaukee Public Television. Mr. Arcara's zeal and enthusiasm are contagious to all who work with him.
